To treat a cavity, your dentist will remove the decayed portion of the tooth and then “fill” the area on the tooth where the decay was. Fillings are also used to repair cracked, broken or injured teeth and teeth that have been worn down from nail-biting, tooth grinding or other misuse.
Teeth can be filled with white porcelain, silver amalgam or a white glass material called composite resin fillings. Your dentist’s recommendation helps determine the type of filling that will best address your needs. General considerations include the extent and location of the decay, the cost of the filling material, and your insurance coverage.
To maintain your fillings you should follow good oral hygiene practices and visit your dentist regularly for cleanings. Additionally, make sure to brush with a toothpaste containing fluoride, and floss at least once daily.
If your dentist suspects that a filling might be cracked, he or she will take x-rays to assess the situation. If your tooth is extremely sensitive, you feel a sharp edge, you notice a crack in the filling, or a piece of the filling is missing, call your dentist for an appointment.
At Dental Faculty Associates, we offer several options of affordably priced fillings. Our quality fillings help you prevent more serious dental health issues and painful dental emergencies down the road.
Overall 5/5 rating. I had concern that an old filling had fallen out. Dr. Vega examined the area very thoroughly without evidence of cavities. While there they were also able to preform a comprehensive exam and cleaning within the appointment time. No dental hygienist was available to preform the cleaning so Dr. Vega volunteered so that I wouldn’t have to come back to clinic. I greatly appreciated this gesture. Also, the overall environment of the clinic from exam rooms facing outside to the relaxing music playing all made this experience a very great dental visit. The front office staff were very friendly and helpful as well. I highly recommend this practice for all your dental needs.
Very happy with my visit here every time. My hygienist is Teri and she’s wonderful, very thorough and personable. My dentist listened to my concerns and helped fix a filling that was done poorly by another dentist at a different clinic. It’s also very easy to book an appointment quickly. Highly recommend Dental Faculty Associates.
Very short wait for my appointment. Office is clean and neat. Staff are friendly and professional. I returned today expecting to have a crown replaced (crown done elsewhere). Dr. Reimann stayed that I could have fillings placed instead, saving me nearly $800!!! He did not recommend more than was necessary. His staff are all friendly and very professional! Thank you Dental Faculty Associates!
Wow!!!! What a friendly, professional, effiecent Dental Office. I was immediately met by Chelsea who checked me in and Anita who helped me fill out the patient information sheets, since this was my first visit. I was given a tour of the office by Anita as I was shown to my room and given a new patient gift bag filled with all kinds of goodies!!! Destiny (amazing)was introduced to me and was the dental assistant to Dr. Brian Goodacre(super friendly, explained everything). They both treated me in a warm and caring manner by making me feel like I was part of their family all while being extremly professional. You could tell they all enjoyed their profession and working with each other (everybody smiling, laughing, joking with each other)!! Totally great experience!!! Highly recommend this Dental office if you like excellent patient care!!! Hard to find these days!!! Thank you all!!! Loved my experience
I've been a patient of Dr. Gilbert Dupper for over a decade and have been very satisfied. He's done good work for me in the past (including repairing and replacing fillings, creating new fillings, and creating a crown), and I've never had any issues. The longest I've ever sat in the waiting room is 5 minutes. The staff is courteous and professional, and I am happy to recommend this office.
